Material Resource Centre (MRC) announces the launch of the brand new competition, the 'PLAY' A Bag Design Competition 2019, jointly with Smart Creations and Piece of Work to allow students of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to show and share their flair of creativity and potential in design.

The competition is open to all PolyU students and encourages the participants to play with the Tyvek® bag by using different materials and printing effects to create a new, lightweight, durable and stylish material carrier bag for designers.

I have joined the competition and luckily won the second runner-up.

The theme of my design is inspire by the sense of diary, or maybe sketchbooks, which we can put down the things we imagined, liked, desired or happened spontaneously. There is no specific format but it is always fun and interesting to look back at it, just like our sketchbooks. I designed it with my original illustrations and contrasting colours, in order to provide a feeling of playfulness. The drawings maybe quite nonsense in some way , however, they somehow make the bag funny when they are gathered, which i want people can always look at it with enjoyment and refreshment. I choose the paper-like tyvek as the material of the bag as it fits the vibe of sketchbook and can effectively present the effect of what it is like when printing on paper.
